Build sequence

IDU (by HVAC)silencer(by HVAC)spring/neoprene isolator pads1

1 Isolate the IDU

Mount the IDU (supplied by HVAC) on spring/neoprene isolator pads so no vibration enters the structure.

2 Flexible connectors — both ends

Fit flexible canvas duct connectors on BOTH ends of every silencer/IDU — no rigid duct-to-unit metal path.

3 Isolated duct hangers

Hang ductwork on neoprene-isolated hangers (every ~600mm). The duct must never rigidly touch the slab.

4 Acoustic access panel

Install the STC-rated access panel for maintenance (see Build 05) — gasketed, off the VO mic position.

Golden rule: Acoustic scope = the interface only (isolators, flex connectors, hangers, access panel). IDUs/ODU/ERV + silencers are procured/installed by the HVAC contractor to the consultant's spec (see 'HVAC — By Others').
